Starlink Brings 10 Gbps Internet to Sea on “Star of the Seas”

Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, Star of the Seas, is now sailing with a serious internet upgrade thanks to Starlink. Their Community Gateway setup provides 10 Gbps symmetrical throughput—that’s fast upload and download—making the onboard experience feel more like you’re at a land resort than out at sea.

This next-level setup supports high-bandwidth uses for the crew and guests: streaming in cabins, live video calls, uploading photos, or even working remotely without lag. The goal? To erase the frustration of slow WiFi while cruising.

Even though the ship is constantly moving, the Community Gateway ensures reliable connectivity via Starlink’s satellite network—building in redundancy so that even rough seas or long stretches away from land don’t interrupt service.

All in all, this is a big step forward for cruise-ship internet: Star of the Seas now delivers a connectivity standard that rivals many homes—upload, download, streaming, working onboard, no more “islands” of weak WiFi. It’s a sign of where cruise tech is heading.
