Starlink Mini dish gets surprise upgrade for longer use

The Starlink Mini dish is a highly anticipated product. Recently, it was spotted with a surprise upgrade for longer use.

Martin Niemer built a Makita battery pack for the Starlink Mini. The 18V/8Ah Makita battery pack provides up to 288 Wh, resulting in 10 hours of connectivity. The Starlink Mini dish upgrade, including batteries, costs less than $80.

According to X user Joseph, Niemer’s clever Starlink Mini dish upgrade is a game changer. The Makita battery pack is small, lightweight, and has low power consumption.

The Starlink Mini dish costs $599. SpaceX aims to reduce the price of Starlink, especially in areas where connectivity is unaffordable or unavailable. SpaceX offers two service plans: Regional and Mini Roam with the Starlink Mini.

With the Regional service plan, customers receive unlimited mobile data for portable use. The plan covers any use inland. Customers must pay by GB when using the Starlink Mini in the ocean or in motion. Regional service plan customers may also pause their subscription at any time.

The Mini Roam service plan gives the Starlink Mini customer 50 GB a month of mobile data with portable or in-motion use.

SpaceX calculates that 50 GB of mobile data is equivalent to 20+ hours of high-definition video streaming. The Mini Roam service plan is only available with the Starlink Mini dish and covers all connectivity inland. Customers may pay for additional Mobile data through the Starlink app and pause their subscription at any time.
