Starlink terminal factory reportedly reaches 4.6M annual production capacity

SpaceX’s Starlink terminal factory in Bastrop, Texas, reportedly reached an annual production capacity of 4.6 million units. Based on local comments, Starlink’s TX factory is allegedly capable of producing 90,000 broadband terminals per week.

According to Advanced Television, SpaceX has other facilities in California and Washington that might be producing Starlink terminals as well. So, SpaceX’s approximate Starlink terminal production numbers are unknown.

In 2023, SpaceX’s Vice President of Starlink Jonathan Hofeller stated that the company was no longer losing money with terminal production. Up until Hofeller’s announcement, SpaceX had been subsidizing Starlink’s terminal production.

SpaceX is currently focused on launching Starlink Cellular (aka Starlink direct to mobile phone) in partnership with T-Mobile. Starlink Cellular is expected to put an end to dead zones.

Elon Musk explained that Starlink Cellular will be exclusive to T-Mobile in the United States in its first year. SpaceX plans to make it available to other carriers later. The company wants to work with one carrier in each country before releasing Starlink Cellular to all carriers.
