Vandenberg Space Force Base, California — September 2, 2025 — SpaceX successfully launched 24 Starlink internet satellites aboard a brand-new Falcon 9 rocket booster from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The liftoff occurred at 8:51 p.m. local time (11:51 p.m. EDT / 03:51 UTC on Sept. 3).
Dubbed the Starlink 17-8 mission, this launch marked a notable achievement for SpaceX, as the booster (likely B1097) made its debut flight before safely landing on the drone ship “Of Course I Still Love You” approximately 8.5 minutes after liftoff.
This mission represents SpaceX’s 526th Falcon 9 launch overall and is its 109th Falcon 9 mission of the year.
SpaceX continues to rapidly expand its Starlink megaconstellation. As of this launch, the fleet now includes over 8,300 operational satellites in low Earth orbit, designed to provide high-speed, low-latency internet across the globe.
