SpaceX’s satellite internet service, Starlink, has officially launched in Antigua and Barbuda, bringing high-speed, low-latency connectivity to the dual-island nation. The announcement was confirmed via Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet is now available in Antigua and Barbuda!”.
According to TS2 Space’s global availability report, Starlink is “Available (Limited)” in Antigua and Barbuda as of early 2025, despite some pending regulatory formalities. The report notes that services are already operational locally.
While the rollout marks a significant milestone in expanding digital access across the Caribbean, local authorities are currently working to ensure compliance with national regulations. As of early 2025, some 100 residents were already using Starlink, though the company has not yet been remitting the required 17% Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST). Officials have indicated there’s no intention to disrupt service, but they are seeking tax compliance and proper registration.
This deployment follows the pattern of Starlink’s rapid expansion across the Caribbean, offering transformative connectivity in regions where traditional internet infrastructure is limited or vulnerable to disruptions. Antigua and Barbuda’s inclusion further underscores the nation’s digital inclusion strategy and resilience efforts.
